Nov 12, 2016 That might give several files which can be opened in Gimp using File - Open As Layers. I had this issue yesterday and found by converting the PSD file to a TIFF file, the layers were preserved in a single file. Here is the command line I used on Linux: $ convert BusinessCard.psd -colorspace rgb BusinessCard.tiff.

Unsupported color mode CMYK
Hi all,
I am facing an issue when trying to open a pre-configured PSD file due to an unsupported color mode: CMYK. Did anybody come across such an issue before and found a way to fix it?

As you found Gimp does not support cyan-magenta-yellow-black (cmyk) colour space.
Gimp is a red-green-blue (RGB) bitmap editor. Apart from that, support for PS .psd files is very limited.
As a suggestion, open the image in the free application Krita see: www.krita.org
That also has limited support for PS layers, depends on the .psd image
Krita can convert the color-space to RGB and if required to 8 bit. Export as a tiff and open the tiff in Gimp as layers.
The only real solution is pay for Photoshop.

Just found one solution, because CMYKtool dont work i nwin10.
Cyan Prepress
It can only export to tiff, but thats workable for me when using Scribus as DTP.
you have to install some cmyk icc profiles, which you can google 'adobe icc profile end user'

Interesting, I will give the older linux version a try.
Just for interest but using separate+ in Gimp 2.10 - it is possible but not really practical

cmyk import plug-in for GIMP, f/oss, and DEA woes
It took faaaaaaaaaaaaar too long to signup at this site to reply to you. Thissite rejected the real address I use for amazon, [email protected] soI created an email address that I'll never check again just to signup here. Ihave zero tolerance for spam. I actively harm those who spam me.
so to your question there is an open source project that can be run Stand Aloneor as a GIMP plug-in
Download 7z from github, unpack it somewhere, start gimp, add the somewherelocation to gimp preference plug-in location, exit gimp, start cyan once, configure according to youtardtube video, start gimp again
annoying part: CMYK image to be imported
FIRST create a new documentthen launch plugin to start import
It CANNOT be launched prior to creating a target document. sigh

no post edit, eh?
Fine.
This plug-in is capable of BOTH import or export. The screenshots are generatedfrom the template I used to make Christmas postcards as the only other CMYK fileI have is the completed project that I'll not be sharing.

Cyan imports/exports XCF. Not the same thing as a plugin.

Just a note: There is a version 2 Cyan (alpha) which aims to be a standaloneconverter / editor - no plugin
Version 1.2 can be both standalone and a Gimp plugin see: https://i.imgur.com/ut29Hrc.jpg This kubuntu 18.04 / Gimp 2.10.12
It works very well, especially since the current Gimp roadmap relegates CMYKsupport to a version Gimp 3.2 However to be fair

Should a new developer join the team to specifically work on CMYK-relatedfeatures, we will do our best to help him/her to complete this project and getit to our users as soon as possible.

Not holding my breath.

For some interpretations of this dengerous oxygen deprivation, you canstop now. Support has been added to both babl and GEGL to handle CMYKimages - which can be be used and tested on the commandline - and usedin the experimental alternative GUIs for GEGL that are in git. Ifsomeone hooks this code up to GIMP I will be diverting some more of myalready thinly stretched attention back to the CMYK code in babl andGEGL to make it fast as well. :)
